OPEN CALL FOR THE CONTEST-EXHIBITIONS RESTART2022

A photography competition for young and emerging photographers, who are starting their careers, rethinking creative strategies, conceptual approach and have a new series to share with our public. Applications are open till May 21st via Picter platform. We do not restrict submissions nor by place of residence, nor by age, nor by topic. The priority working technique should be photography.

Nida Art Residency finalist is from Taiwan

In 2022, the Lithuanian Photographers Association started a new artist’s residency program in Nida for a photographer or lens-based artist. The residency is also part of the international photography symposium "NIDA. Meeting Photography". The aim is to reflect on Nida’s site-specific ecosystems and the changing boundaries of photography, to actualize photography both as a medium and as a means of expression. The program seeks to attract artists with a critical approach towards using their production tools, questioning the cultural discourse of their practice and having a strong socio-political mindset.

The International Photography Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary! Artists working with photography, video, performance, and multimedia from around the world and at different stages of their career are all welcome to submit their existing works, or proposals for new work on the topic of ACTION. The artistic committee will review the proposals anonymously to ensure an equal opportunity for everyone, irrespective of where they come from, age or education. Submission deadline: March 24, 2022. Participation fee: 15 USD.

"Violeta Bubelytė has established herself in the history of Lithuanian photography as a free-standing artist, breaking taboos with her audacious practice. She has been depicting herself nude for almost 40 years, starting in a very restrictive context of the Soviet era. In this exhibition you can see her early photos made during Soviet times, as well as the artist’s recent body of work, together forming the genesis of Violeta’s oeuvre."

11-12 of November Lithuanian photobooks will be presented at photo-book fair „Polycopies“ in Paris. Two days long pop-up showcase will introduce Lithuanian publications at the book fair, which counts an eighth edition this year. The selection of books will include publications of Lithuanian Photographers Association, independent publishers and inidividual authors.

ISSP Riga Residency is open for applications for the period January – June 2022 (as well as one spot for December 2021). The Residency is aimed at photographers, artists and curators working with photography and provides an opportunity for focused work on a personal project in Riga and its surroundings while exploring the local cultural scene. Jillian Edelstein. Stories from the Land, Stories from the Sea

Stories from the Land, Stories from the Sea is Jillian Edelstein’s first exhibition in Lithuania and in the wider region of Central and Eastern Europe. It fuses personal biography and documentary records to explore the crossroads between the current refugee crisis in Europe and the historical mass migration unfolding across diverse geographies. The project harnesses memory, archive and contemporary photography to probe the legacies, politics and stories of displacement that remain pressingly relevant today.

Submissions open for the Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography

The Meitar Award for Excellence in photography, a collaboration between PHOTO IS:RAEL and the Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Fund, will be awarded for the sixth time this year. The 20 finalists will be showcased in a group exhibition at the International Photography Festival in November 2021 in Tel-Aviv. The award winner will be announced in November during the festival.
