Dovilė Dagienė: "Memories of Plants" at the Ghetto Fighters' House Museum.

This Wednesday, 19th of June, a very special exhibition - "Memories of Plants" by Lithuanian artist and photographer Dovilė Dagienė - is opening at the Ghetto Fighters' House Museum. The exhibition will feature 24 unique works, in which plant leaves are used as material onto which archival photographs of Vilnius children are transferred. The photographs show reflections of childhood found in the archives of the Vilna Gaon Museum of Jewish History.

The 4th edition of Mesnographies Festival will take place near Paris

Directed and curated by Claire Pathé, Consuelo Chozas and Maud Guillot, the Mesnographies is a free entrance outdoor festival. Their festival's mission is to open up its community and make the photographic medium accessible to rural areas through large-scale exhibitions, generally reserved for city dwellers. A window open to the world, it brings together photographers from several countries whom they invite to participate and collaborate, in order to confront our modes of thought and representation.

After long debates, discussions, and hard decisions at the Lithuanian Photographers Association we announce the list of finalists for the competition RESTART for 2024. We sincerely congratulate all authors, and we hope to see you in person or virtually during the opening of the group exhibition August 21st, 2024, at the Prospektas Gallery. We hope to launch the exhibition catalogue on the opening evening.

On April 30th, an exhibition “Noises and garbage” by Vytautas Magnus University’s (VMU) Požerskis was opened at VMU Art Gallery “101”, (Muitinės g. 7, Kaunas). The photographs and video work exhibited in the exhibition were created using 8 mm film footage shot by Požerskis in 1967-1973.

Artists for residency program of the symposium "NIDA. Meeting Photography" are selected

In May 2024 the artist residency program, which is part of the international photography symposium “NIDA. Meeting Photography”, will start its third edition. After the announced open call, there was selected one artist for 2024 and one for 2025, who will stay and create in Nida and 21 runners up, whose work will participate in symposiums evening projections program in September. The program is run in collaboration with VAA Nida Art Colony.

Lithuanian Photographers Association in collaboration with Nida Art Colony invite lens-based artists and photographers to apply for an artist residency program in Nida. This residency is also a part of the international photography symposium 'NIDA. Meeting photography'. The aim of it is to reflect on the site-specific ecosystems and the changing boundaries of photography, to actualize photography both as a medium and as a means of expression.

Valentyn Odnoviun. Echoes of the Unseen

The first Polish solo exhibition by Ukrainian- Lithuanian artist Valentyn Odnoviun will present photographic series on places of forced seclusion. Taken over eight years, chiefly in Lithuania, Ukraine, Latvia, Poland and Germany, the pictures result from the artist’s interest in contextual photography and the post-Soviet world. The artist searches for places of totalitarian violence and analyses their appearance to photograph them in unconventional ways.

Exhibition in Krakow "Lithuania. Two Centuries of Photography"

International Center of Cultures in Krakow (Poland) in collaboration with Lithuanian Photographers’ Association will open the photography exhibition "Lithuania. Two centuries of photography" on the 15th of June, 2023. According to the curator of the exhibition Adam Mazur, this is the first monographic exhibition of broadly understood Lithuanian photography in Poland, so it is important to present both iconic figures and classic photos, as well as opening up to less obvious phenomena, as well as phenomena that go beyond the medium of photography itself.
