The Lithuanian Photographers Association, alongside its annual programme of activities, also implements significant projects in publishing, education, and the presentation of its archive. These initiatives are characterised by long-standing traditions and form an integral part of the organisation’s work.

One of the most important events is the symposium Nida. Meeting Photography, organised since 1972. In 2022, in cooperation with the Nida Art Colony and a private sponsor, the Nida Photography Residency was established, becoming an important platform for creative exchange and the development of the field of photography.

Publishing projects also hold a significant place. The photography yearbook Lithuanian Photography has been published (with interruptions) since 1968, while the magazine Photography has been issued since 2000, consistently presenting the processes and current developments of contemporary photography.

In 2024, in collaboration with the copyright holder UAB ‘Alora’, the project Lithuania. 24 Hours, originally implemented on 30 April 2004 – the last day before Lithuania joined the European Union – was given a new form.

The most recent initiative is Prospektas Gallery Window, launched in 2026. It is a public evening projection space in the gallery’s library window, enabling a wider presentation of photographic works and reintroducing archival material. This initiative contributes to increasing the visibility of the Lithuanian Photographers Association archive, which has been undergoing digitisation since 2019.

The direction of archive research and dissemination is complemented by the project “Women of the Archive,” which focuses on the creative legacy of Lithuanian women photographers preserved in the Association archive. In 2026, these works are planned to be presented in greater depth, thereby strengthening gender representation balance in the history of photography and in contemporary discourse.
