Reflections of the challenges of the current world and the imagined future in contemporary art
Neringa Bumblienė (b. 1982) is a curator and author. She is the Artistic Director of the Vilnius Biennial of Performance Art in 2023 and a Curator of the Pavilion of Lithuania at the 59th Biennale di Venezia in 2022. Since 2014, she has worked as a curator at the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC) in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Throughout her career, she has worked on numerous contemporary art projects from large-scale international group exhibitions (including Baltic Triennial 13 in 2018) to solo presentations of established and emerging artists (including by Robertas Narkus in 2023, 2022 and 2020, Pierre Huyghe in 2022, Michael Rakowitz in 2020, Alejandro Cesarco in 2019, Daniel Steegmann Mangrané in 2018, Liam Gillick in 2017 and 2014, et al.). Among areas of her interest is contemporary art that sensitively reflects the challenges of the current world and helps to imagine the future.
She is a Board Member of the IKT – International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art and the art fair ArtVilnius.
Her texts have been published in exhibition catalogues and art publications, including the catalogue of the 59th Biennale di Venezia, the Portuguese contemporary art guide "PARTE Book", the catalogue of the 13th Baltic Triennial, the book "Liam Gillick from Nineteen Ninety A to Nineteen Ninety D", and others.
