Contexts of generated images: from the collective imagination and ontological turn to individual, as the centre of value, perspective

The presentation will introduce the discussions occurring in the field of visual media field about AI generated images phenomenon. How is this way of mediating the world through images similar to and different from other ways of creating images? How does the new media affect our visual culture, imagination, and the understanding of creativity? What is metastyle by default and what does collective imagination mean in this context? How and if does the status of individual creator change? What is the relationship of this media with the field of photography? How can this media be used in ethnographic and artistic research and in professional creation?

 

 

 

Agnė Gintalaitė – Artist, Art Historian, Photographer, Cultural Publicist, Lrt.lt Columnist, Member of the Lithuanian Photographers Association and the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association. Agnė has graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts, studied Psychology at Vilnius University, and is currently studying cultural studies at Vytautas Magnus University. She has organised four personal exhibitions, participates in group exhibitions, and has won awards in international art photography competitions. Her interdisciplinary creative strategy is characterised by a reflective research approach, a post-photographic typological method, and a hybrid combination of scientific and artistic representations. Fields of study: [historical] truth and postcolonial materialities; the expression of the ontological turn provoked by the Anthropocene in everyday practices and imagination.
