“A man is talking on the telephone behind a glass partition; you cannot hear him, but you see his incomprehensible dumb show: you wonder why he is alive.” (Albert Camus)
Since the beginning of the virus outbreak, I can’t help but regularly think of a rather famous novel called The Plague, and how people were locked off from others due to geographical differences. The virus has progressed and affected us on a worldwide scale, and I keep contemplating over passages of Camus’ The Myth of Sisyphus, looking for clues to draw parallels for myself in order to adjust to this state of pandemic. (The Human Condition in the times of a pandemic.) In my opinion there is no level of absurdity that can displace another level of absurdity. The images are an abstract interpretation of a virus unfurling, spreading, the attempt to contain and control, and finally spiralling back to a starting point.
