Armands Andže will talk about the slow approach to photography in 21st century, making photographic glassplates in digital age, and recreating 19th century photographic techniques by using modern materials.
Armands Andže admires the idea to slow down in photography. The reason is that nowadays, photography has become the most produced media, and everything is being photographed, and millions of photographs are made digitally each hour, but very few of them are actually printed. The way he works is by taking time on each photograph, preparing the material, thinking about what he wants to take picture of, and preparing all the materials by hand. Armands’s main field of focus is the research and reconstruction of historical photographic techniques and processes in practice, since the beginnings of photography.
