Vytenis Jankūnas: 800 Portraits of the People I Don’t Know
NEW YORK — SLA Art Space is pleased to present
“800 Portraits of the People I Don’t Know”
The exhibition showcasing the work of Lithuanian-American artist
Vytenis Jankūnas.
The exhibition will be on view from November 14th to November 27th, 2024.
Vytenis Jankūnas presents two large video projections, sharing images of peoples’ life world in New York City, which he has been religiously capturing on his camera for the past few years. In this particular exhibition, Vytenis showcases portraits set in the streets of New York, the city in which he has spent half of his life, where he fell in love with the people, the way they look, the way they dress and the way they talk. He has succeeded in documenting and magnifying them through his lens. Through these images, captured in the vulnerable state of everyday life, the artist tells us the story of his subjects in this unique and culturally diverse city.
