Juozas Budraitis
Whispers

On September 30 (Wednesday) at 5:30 pm, a solo exhibition of photographs by Juozas Budraitis, recipient of the National Prize for Culture and Arts, ‘Whispers’, opens at Prospekto Gallery (Gedimino Ave. 43, Vilnius).

Juozas Budraitis – a film and theatre actor, Honorary Member of the Lithuanian Photographers Association and recipient of the Lithuanian National Prize – developed a passion for photography in his youth. When film directors began inviting the law student to appear in films, his photo archive began to fill with portraits of directors, actors, artists, cinematographers, and the unseen people behind the films. In 2012, an exhibition of J. Budraitis’s photographs, My Cinema. 1970–1990, was opened, and in 2014, the collection-exhibition Walls and People, featuring views and faces of Vilnius, was presented at the Elysium Gallery in Vilnius. In 2016, the Lithuanian Art Museum published J. Budraitis’s unassuming yet atmospheric photography book My Paris: Sketches of a Flâneur.

The exhibition runs until October 24.

Opening hours of the ‘Prospektas’ Gallery: Tuesday–Friday 12:00–18:00, Saturday 12:00–16:00.

The activities of the Lithuanian Photographers Association are funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius City Municipality.
