Raimundas Urbonas (1963–1999), Remigijus Treigys. Lend Me a Time Relay...

Nida Culture and Tourism Information Centre “Agila”

Taikos St. 4

Opening: September 16, Tuesday, 8:00 p.m.

The exhibition title is a brief quotation from a note Raimundas Urbonas left for Remigijus Treigys. A technical term here takes on a metaphysical meaning: it is time that has slipped away, but perhaps can still be returned, switched, extended. A time relay becomes like a time switch, a mediator of impulses, a possibility of a leap.

Remigijus Treigys and Raimundas Urbonas – artists of the same generation, once friends and colleagues. Both receptive in their own way to silence, in photography they draw transparent boundaries between reality and memory, between truth and fiction.

In their photographs, it is not so much events that are documented as the unevenness of time that is articulated. Not the event itself, but what remains when it has not happened or has already ended.

Brought together in one exhibition space, their photographs create not a dialogue but rather a parallel – two lines of temporal rhythm, which only at times intersect and intertwine, but almost always resonate within each other’s acoustics.
