Liis Lillo
(Estonia–France)

SI UN JOUR...
Initially, my idea was to overcycle my own photographs to conjure up memories and landscapes.

HABIT-A
These are short-lived actions carried out by myself with the intention of embodying precarious architecture.

Liis Lillo (b. 1987)  is an Estonian born mix-media artist based in Toulouse, France. Graduating from the Institut Supérieur des Arts de Toulouse in 2013, she is interested in landscape as an expression of our inner states. She walks, strolls with her camera in search of landscapes as a support for an interiority. In her artist’s studio in Toulouse, where she has been working since 2016, she cover old furniture with these photographs to create installations. Her practice involves reusing second-hand clothes and furniture. For other projects, she recycles her own photographs and creates micro-architectures.
On numerous occasions, she has had the opportunity to implement artistic interventions in schools; most recently as part of the residency led by Memento - Espace Départemental d’Art Contemporain, at the Gabriel Séailles secondary school in Vic-Fezensac (Gers). In 2021, she exhibited her work as part of the 14th À Ciel Ouvert festival at the invitation of the Espace photographique Arthur Batut in Labruguière (departement of Tarn), and in 2023 at the 4th edition of La Nouvelle Photographie in Port-La Nouvelle (departement of Aude). In 2024, Liis Lillo is selected for the Mentoring program at the École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles.
