Touch / Surface / Scale: Variations On Archive

How is photography related to knowledge, desire and remembrance? In what ways are photographs used to propagate discourse by scientific disciplines such as archeology and geology; or by power structures such as family, and the state? What do photographic archives reproduce, and what role do they play in configuring our optical unconscious? Is it possible to come up with counter strategies that reveal cultural, ideological or ontological significance of images? Throughout this brief presentation Ege Kanar will try to elaborate on his artistic methodology by drawing on recent bodies of work he has produced utilizing material from a variety of archives.
