Alvydas Donėla Lithuanian, born 1980, Skuodas, Lithuania. Based in Vilnius, Lithuania. Studied in Vilnius Design College (BA in Applied Photography / 2014) and Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts (MA in Photography and Media Arts / 2017). First solo exhibition “Culture House” / Vilnius Photography Gallery / 2016 / Vilnius, Lithuania. Member of Lithuanian Photographers Association. Owner of an artist status of the Republic of Lithuania.

A. Donėla’s artistic strategy is influenced by the legacy of conceptual photography. In one hand A. Donėla is concerned with certain formal things, such as the series of images, the physical surface and qualities of an image. In the other – his developed body of work has a specific nature of the artistic research in the field of collective memory, socio-cultural and philosophical dimension and expansion of the boundaries of photography media itself. In his latter artistic research under the title ‘Applications’ A. Donėla bridges 3 different spaces – actual world, photographic space and the space to which the photographic observer belongs in attempt to questions photography’s abilities to speak about the coming time rather than past time.
