Prospekto gallery presents 13 yet unknown young photographers in the exhibition "Something out of ordinary". The 13 are: Gediminas Bartuška, Monika Bielskytė, Laima Buivydaitė, Joana Deltuvaitė, Giedrius Ilgūnas, Aistė Kisarauskaitė, Arnoldas Kubilius, Artūras Olšauskas, Paulius Petraitis, Rokas Pralgauskas, Vygintas Račinskas, Rugilė Sokolova ir Jurgita Treinytė.
Most of the participants are very young and starting to make pictures because they were curious, but not professionally engaged. While making the collection of the exhibition the most important criteria was untraditional point of view towards the photography itself and the means of expression in the media. The idea of Something out of ordinary formed the basics of the selection. The exhibition prolongs the tradition of previously organized exhibition "Debut".
Today when the environment is crowded with images and non-stop flow of information to find something out of ordinary is really a hard task. Constantly fluctuating images grasp you, but the next second another one forces you to forget the previous image overrunning with a new wave of emotions and impressions. Finally tired eye of the observer looks for something that could be memorized for longer time. The photographer selects images that represent that particular valuable moment that the author prefers to protect from merging into non-existence.
The participants of the exhibition A. Kisarauskaitė, M. Bielskytė and L. Buivydaitė look for their original images during the travels to the foreign countries. During the journeys they try to enclose the individual character of the country through the cultural differences that embodies the peculiarities of every day life. G. Ilgūnas and R. Sokolova try to find the answer to the questions that they pose while analyzing the mysteries of nature. G. Bartuška and J. Treinytė as if not satisfied with the existing reality create fictitious nature, which is improved with by artistic imagination and feelings. V. Račinskas and A. Olšauskas discuss with classic documentary reportage giving a fresh look into this old tradition of Lithuanian photography. Most unexpected were the photographs of four young artists R. Pralgauskas, P. Petraitis, A. Kubilius and J. Deltuvaitė. These photographers involve the viewer to the private life of a human being. The photographers take a huge risk while exposing the secrets of privateness for the curious public. Whether it was worth taking this risk the visitors can find in the exhibition "Something out of ordinary" at Prospekto gallery.
