Union of Lithuanian Art Photographers presents one of the most famous Swedish photographers in XX century - Lennart Olson.

L. Olson as freelance photographer started to take pictures more than 50 years ago.  In 1958 together with other nine photographers he established photography association "Tio Fotografer".   L. Olson's pictures had been displayed in the largest museums of the world including MOMA in New York. During 20 years in 1960-1980 L. Olson was an operator at Swedish national TV channel, he had shot more than 50 documentaries, traveled a lot, got acquainted with famous people of the time. The experience he had gained as TV operator had influenced the characteristic of his photographs.

L. Olson is known as photographer of bridges. He started the series "Bridges" in 1950 when he was 25 years old and works with it up to date. The selection of art photography on bridges is published in his latest book "From One Side to Another" in 2000.

In the exhibition Olson's creative path is revealed with the images that have made his style so unrepeatable, so recognizable. Since childhood the artist has been fascinated by intellectually minimalistic and architectonically restrained form as well as by the nuances of one ascetic color. Bridges - just in black and white, in different European countries, from diverse distances, under varied lighting, from unexpected angles and the fine tonal gradations.

According to the critics L. Olson in his black and white photography has managed to combine the abstraction and documentary. The series of bridges vividly reveals this ability of artist.

The exhibition is organized with the help of  BildensHus fotomuseet in Sundsvall www.fotomuseet.sundsvall.se; Hasselbladcenter www.hasselbladcenter.se; Sundsvalls kommun www.sundsvall.se and Embassy of Sweden in Lithuania.
