Geert Goiris ir Ville Lenkkeri
From 25th of February till 13th of March 2004 Prospekto gallery presents the exhibition of two young photographers from Belgium and Finland Geert Goiris and Ville Lenkkeri.
The two photographers are true travelers and observers that are searching in their works not for adventures or exotic places, but they are interested in so called "object finding". Large format colored pictures show strange interiors, city spaces, as if they were inhabited by human society, the landscapes rather resembles the surfaces of unknown planets than the earth.
The associative principles construct the backbones of the exposition. It is arranged taking attention to the resonance and synchronicity between the works of the two authors. The theme relates the photographs of Geert Goiris and Ville Lenkkeri mostly. The pictures depict the objects that society considers as not important and not useful. While picturing the forgotten objects artists acts like society critics. Both photographers seek to provoke another way of understanding the picture rather than showing the unknown places. The photographs on the show are rather metaphors of loneliness, isolation and lack of communication.
Every trip abroad or at home, every session is the discovery of new places that develops the intuition of photographers. Both artists after the show will travel in Lithuanian discovering new materials for future projects.
