The works of the photographer J.Polis are well known to Lithuanians – his photographs have been exhibited at international exhibitions and received good evaluations a number of times.

The photographer is a real master of colour photography. J.Polis has his original attitude to landscape and things, to the figure and face of a human being. He does not like big revolutions in art and is valued for attentive and accumulated look at things.

J.Polis was bor in Anykščiai district in 1920. He is a member of the Lithuanian Union of Art Photographers since 1989 and a member of honour since 1995. He is the author of photo albums: “Native Land Lithuania” (1988), “Reborn Lithuania” (1990), “Crossing Lithuania” (1992), “Prayer to Lithuania” (1994), “Lithuanian Seaside” (1996), “Lithuanian Theatres” (1998), “Lithuania, our Native Country” (1998, 2001).
