For Paulius Račiūnas photography is simply interpretation of subjective reality, searches of meanings, slides of views, numbers, steps, formulas. Or long illuminated minutes. It is like an unfinished text not pretending to be “fair” reflection of the world or an objective truth, it is more a particular sort of hermeneutics and special kind of a ritualized game. It’s an aspiration for alternative photography in which different reality and different rules would take part. Interpretation doesn’t end with a push of the camera button (if it still is) or with a printed picture. The re-interpretated reality “is given away” to a further interpretation of a viewer, which determines the answer to the questions what is this? and why?
