Kensaku Shioya. Nocturnal Shadows
2008.02.06 - 2008.02.22
Vilniaus fotografijos galerija (Stiklių g. 4)

From 6 to 22 of February, 2008 at Vilnius photography gallery runs the photo exhibition „Nocturnal Shadows“  by young Japanese photographer, currently living and working in Lithuania, Kensaku Shioya .
The photographer’s action and his point of view, stern from the use of nocturnal camera with infrared sensor which evolved from photo technology originally conceived in the living world of light, the targets portrayed by Kensaku Shioya, are the natural faces of the night in their own unique colours, which cross and emerge without being slain by the power of lights.

Like cats wondering in the night with freedom, people hidden from moon light and entering in to conversation, and architectural forms in growing amorous colours, Kensaku Shioya keeps dyeing his mind in the dark of the night and taking photos of the gentle and warm world.

Kensaku Shioya firstly started working as a video engineer at a journalism department of a broadcasting center in Fukuoka, Japan in 1992, and learned professional videography, lighting and audio techniques in production of television programs for news, sports and documentary for 6 years. After moved back to Tokyo he worked with a printing company for DTP with digital camera. Kensaku Shioya also has worked as a certified Japanese language teacher, a marketing director of a Taiwanese IT company at its Japan office and an international trade specialist of the State of Missouri – USA, Department of Economic Development, Japan Trade & Investment Office. After finished such work experiences Kensaku Shioya became a freelance photographer in Tokyo and worked with magazines, companies and individual clients. Kensaku Shioya has visited Lithuania in winter of 2006 for the first time and decided to start his new career there. Kensaku Shioya has moved to Kaunas, Lithuania in April 2007 and works in business of photography and art/cultural exchange projects between Japan and Lithuania.
