Jānis Valdemārs Helmanis (Latvija). „Resurrection"
2005.08.03 - 2005.08.29
Vilniaus fotografijos galerija (Stiklių g. 4)

Janis Valdemars Helmanis was born in 1951 in Riga, Latvia. In 19990 he established the first private gallery of modern Latvian art called MMM (first letters of Latvian words Art, Love, Peace)

After the gallery was destroyed by fire the new stage of creative life started for Helmanis.  Now he lives and photographs in the village located on the border of Latvia and Lithuania. We see Ice, Sun and Water in his photos.

Helmanis aim is to show the wide possibilities of photography that could be very close to paintings.

His philosophic conception has Christian roots. It’s an intimate conversation about the main questions on human life by means of visual effects and texts – where from we are and where we go, what is the main purpose for human being, about Life, Death and Love and about the only one way to find the truth in that unusual world – the path to the eternal Father and His Son Jesus Christ’s unconventional love.
